In this special edition of the Florida Dine and Dash, I would like to shine some light into my world and into the wonderful place that has done some quality service for me and my family. My youngest brother has autism, and it’s a severe case that will result in the family looking after him for the remainder of his life. Nonetheless, he is the happiest and most content person you will ever meet---so don’t feel too bad for him. Now one of the several organizations that create events for people with special needs constantly finds themselves in this delightful location.
Located in excruciatingly hidden Downtown Orlando, Farris and Foster’s Chocolate Factory is a gem of a place for their flawless service to us and the kids with special needs as well as their ability to deliver some killer chocolate. Close to the Milk District and just off of the reach of the heart of downtown is this gorgeous newer neighborhood with a higher class look and feel but without the intimidation. Within the hundred businesses that consists of a dance school, fast food, fine dining, etc., we have a place that specializes in not just the creating and selling of chocolate, but the overall experience dealing with chocolate from start to finish. That’s right, you can create your own chocolate treats, and you can make it look as nice or as ridiculous as you want.
This could be a great date night, a great birthday party, a great get-together, or even a great bonding experience. The staff is very patient, very helpful, and very engaging as the cast I was involved in gleefully took the chocolate-making out for a spin. There are dozens of ways to make your chocolate; as you can choose the shape, texture, thickness, richness, and even type of chocolate. Not only do you get to choose your shapes (hundreds of options by the way), but you also select from a nice variety of toppings; from the classics like M&Ms and peanuts to the more obscure like marshmallows, fruit, and even potato chips.
If that’s not enough to get your sweet tooth excited, they also offer this incredible conveyer belt which allows you to pick whatever food you want to have covered in rich chocolate, and topped with whatever you want. You can be about as creative as your heart (and your wallet) desires. On my evening, me and Christian mostly made milk chocolate cups topped with candies and marshmallows. But during our most creative period, we had massive marshmallows, twinkies, oreos, and even peanut butter-filled pretzel bites drenched in rich chocolate and then topped with even more candy. It felt very wrong sometimes the immense amount of calories we were creating, but it all looked so darn good.
Taking a pound of chocolate home with you is just an added bonus, but even if you go overboard don’t get too upset. At less than $20 I took home two pounds of chocolate and even got to purchase a few items from the counter. The event itself isn’t cheap, especially if you are in a bigger family. Trust me however, it will be worth your while and worth every penny---not to mention you will be stocked on chocolate for the next month at least.
Farris and Fosters also sells chocolate creations of their own. And they are all spectacular. There’s chocolate popcorn, truffles, fruit, Nutella cups, rice crispies, and pretty much anything else that would be complimented by fresh chocolate. Everything here is good, I am not kidding. This is by no means a dinner place---this is strictly high-class, high-quality dessert. You better bring an emptyish stomach here, because this chocolate factory delivers it’s A-game on a daily basis. This place has liquid fudge smoothies….just saying……
Bottom Line: Whether you are here to party, to go on a date, to bond with family, to spend quality time with your special person, or just to grab a box of pure richness, Farris and Foster’s Chocolate Factory is one of the best dessert places in the entire state of Florida—not just among the best in Orlando. Quality is brewing from the service to the presentation to the array of decadent delights that surrounds you the second you step in. Save some money, waltz in here, and remember why you love chocolate. Even if you detest chocolate, this place will deliver a strong and convincing argument as to why you are wrong. Farris and Foster’s Chocolate Factory is a must-visit. Once won’t be enough. Trust me.
Final Verdict: Strongly Recommend
